Does regular conferences solve the water problem?

Water is the source of life and the basic condition of existence, access to healthy drinking water is a fundamental human right. Where there is no or limited access, it causes violence, epidemics, disease, death, civil war and mass migration. Where it exists, it means, on the one hand, business and money, as it is an indispensable and profitable commodity, and, on the other, a very complex problem in terms of the possession and distribution of resources. And thanks to human evil, it is an excellent tool for terrorization…

At the 2024 World Water Week conference in Stockholm, Sweden, at the end of August , similar findings were made by water researchers, scientists and other key players in the developed world. The theme was “Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future” and sought to inspire us to recognize the regional and global interconnectedness of communities and nations, and underlined the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve a peaceful and sustainable future.

We have been listening to the same record for a long time, with different interpretations from high-ranking young and less young, enthusiastic and less optimistic professionals. Identifying the problem is fine, but still the solution seems somewhere remote. Although there is plenty of money in developed countries that could help, but it is estimated that only a small part of that grants can be landed where there is real trouble.

The developed world spends a great deal of money on maintaining this global bureaucratic system – itself, in fact. An unprecedented mass of professionals and researchers from many agencies, universities and other institutions are trying to “save the planet” with more or less success or at least to “greenwash” it.

Governments fund universities and a mass of insider research groups, whichhas led to the emergence of “subsistence” opportunistic researchers who – not infrequently with the help of artificial intelligence – about 80 % of their scientific publications produced on assembly lines cannot be verified, i.e. they cannot be replicated experimentally, according to a Swiss professor’s statement. In this circle, everyone can find something to look forward to, except for thirsty people who no longer live only in the developing World. Well, that’s how we stand, it’s often said that among the many midwives, children are lost…

Unfortunately, as an entrepreneur, I have not yet been able to establish cooperation with dedicated EU organizations, local governments and authorities, or NGOs working on humanitarian lines, regardless of the fact that our industrial atmospheric water generators can be a solution for people suffering from water scarcity. In vain I offered a huge discount on our machines for humanitarian purposes, those who are not in the circle are not talked to, or only through the appropriate insider intermediary…

This impenetrable wall, corruption and disinterest have increasingly become a global phenomenon. Even in the case of the regions of southern Italy, Spain or Africa that suffer the most, it is only in the individual interests of local authorities and magistrates that the decision is taken into account.

Of course, there are many people who can afford to buy a household atmospheric water generator available from as little as EUR 1,600, or an industrial-scale AWG with a capacity of 500 to 10,000 L/day to supply water to a larger house, farm or small community. Unfortunately, the poorer strata who are thirsty or of poor quality still seem to matter less, the crisis caused by water scarcity and human exodus continue escalating in the world. And, of course, more and more water-related conferences are held more and more often in strictly 5 star hotels.
